Creating Ease Of Play To Make Your Player’s Feel More Skilled

No matter who you are, there is a strong sense of satisfaction when you are able to find that zone. When you can breeze through complex tasks with ease because you’ve become skilled enough to do just that! The Batman Arkham games utilize snaps in combat to smooth transitions between targets during fights. This is used to take away the parts of combat that don’t support the “Core Feelings” that the mechanics in the game are trying to display. In Batman, you are playing as a superhero fighting criminals and the developers want you to feel strong and capable when you fight waves of evildoers.

Similar to the “snap” mechanic that automatically moves batman into alignment with the nearest enemy in the direction your moving, I will be adding a mechanic to my game that draws in nearby powerups when the player holds down a specified key. This should create an ease to the game that will allow the player to have a stronger sense of control within the game environment that I’m trying to immerse them in.
